I am Dr. Keturah Reese, a career educator and lead servant. I am excited about the new opportunity to serve as principal of Central High School. I am no stranger to the Charger community or education. I have served Central for eight years, four years as Assistant Principal and four years as an academic coach. While at Central, I enhanced my ability to work collaboratively with teams that included all staff. Within the administrative team, although we had distinct roles of responsibility, we always worked together to ensure the success of Central. At Central, I served as assistant principal of instruction, operation/discipline, testing coordinator, RTI coordinator, and mentor. The academic coaches, the other assistant principal, and the dean worked alongside me to collectively get the job done. Collaboration and teamwork are a large part of the success of any organization.
My vision is exemplified in four E’s, Education, Empowerment, Engagement, and Excellence. This vision has allowed me effectively to put children first as a teacher and a leader for over 25 years. The 4 E vision allowed me to be chosen for the Professional Distinction Award from Alcorn State National Alumni Association, the Governor’s School of Leadership, a member of Bibb’s 1st Leadership Induction Cohort, a member of the Aspiring Principal’s Educational Leadership Cohort through MGRESA, a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship Mentor, a mentor for numerous educators throughout my career, and most honorably the Bibb County Teacher of the Year. The 4 E’s also drive the continuous thirst that I have for learning and growing. I hold a PhD and Specialist degree in curriculum and instruction from Mercer University, a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from University of Southern MS, and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Alcorn State University.
I look forward to continuing the successful development of Central HS by educating, empowering, engaging, and creating excellence for all stakeholders at Central HS! Central Nation, together, We Lead, because it CAN and WILL be done!
